Mary Duvall

Mary Duvall was a beloved dedicated board member of Progressive Health Services since 2005. She gave of her great depth of knowledge in English literature, poetry, grammar, and editorial skills in assisting in Progressive Health Services’ many educational programs, and lent her wonderful humor, kindness, support, and compassion to everything she did. She has left an enormous hole in all our hearts. Mary will be greatly missed. She was a dear friend of board member Jeanette Kangas who first met Mary in 1985. Marcia Kerwit

Marcia Kerwit was a long time dedicated and beloved board member of Progressive Health Services from1987 until her passing in 2009. She was a co-founder of WomanCare, a sister clinic in San Diego, CA, and a women's health specialist with the Feminist Women's Health Center, another sister clinic in Los Angeles, CA. She brought a wealth of experience and expertise to Progressive Health Services as an educator and writer and in the area of integrative medicine, and human rights. She traveled to China several times to study Qigong, and lived in DaLian in China's northeast for a year from 1985-1986. During this time she visited remote parts of China where no westerners had visited before to study Qigong. She also studied extensively with Qigong Master Mantak Chia and became a senior instructor of the Universal Healing Tao. In addition she co-produced a video on Qigong with Chinese medical film maker Yang. She was also a co-founder of the San Francisco/Bay Area Women's Qigong Alliance. She co-authored of Menopause Myths and Facts and A New View of a Woman's body, and was a contributor to Chi Kung- Energy for Life, as well as a co-editor of Awaken
Healing Light of the Tao. Marcia had many artistic talents as a writer, radio producer, dancer, mime, and was an actor in the San Francisco Mime Troupe. She was a dear long time friend of board member Suzann Gage who first met Marcia in1974. Her creativity, enthusiasm, dedication to women's health, multicultural health promotion, and dynamic, engaging, soaring spirit left an enormous impact on so many. She is greatly missed.

Gail Goldstein

Gail Goldstein was a co-founder of Progressive Health Services. She was a beautiful vibrant soul with an infectious joyful laugh, amazing political savvy and an enormous heart. She worked at the Feminist Women's health Center in Los Angeles during the late 1970's and early 1980's. Gail was an extraordinary teacher, mentor, and human rights activist. Early on she was a strong advocate for education, and for the health and well-being of women, children, and non-traditional families from wide range of diverse cultural and religious traditions. She opened the Women’s Clinic at the New Bedford Women’s Center in Massachusetts where she worked with her father, Meyer Goldstein, MD, providing family planning options and well-woman health services to women regardless of their marital status. She later worked as a Head Start teacher and trainer and was a passionate advocate for early childhood education serving on the Board of New Mexico Voices for Children. Gail was a dear long time friend of board member Suzann Gage. Gail is greatly missed.
